For Immediate Release

Many of our members have been asking for an easy to follow reference guide to the candidates they should support in the upcoming KPPCSD board election. Headquarters has responded with this simple guide complete with a few background notes.

We have two stellar candidates that deserve the backing of the1200 club faithful for the KPPCSD board election. One of the candidates, Mr. Chuck Toombs is a two-term veteran of the KPPCSD board vying for his third term. The other candidate is Dr. David Spath, the familiar chairman of the Ad Hoc Governance Committee.

Folks, as you know Mr. Chuck Toombs has a long history on the board. He served as president during one term and you may recall the very enthusiastic gavel work he displayed during his presidency. No slave to ordinary dogma, Mr. Toombs is quick to remind us he always keeps an open mind. He has always been ready to approve raises and sweeten benefits for the KPD. Mr. Toombs believes in having the best police force money can buy.

In fact he supported past Chief of Police Harman even when others were ready to fire the chief. His confidence in the chief was not shaken in spite of the charges of lack of transparency, intimidation of citizens, procedural improprieties, ignoring financial liabilities, unprofessional behavior and even the moral & ethical lapses of the Reno incident. Surely a steadfast man of his caliber deserves your vote!

Dr. David Spath worked in the public sector as a civil engineer specializing in water quality. He is currently serving as the chairman of the Ad Hoc Governance Committee formed to research several timely issues. The issues are; separating the COP/GM position, contracting police services and KPPCSD & KFD consolidation. Of course in his role as helmsman Dr. Spath must steer a neutral course, but you can rest assured that he is “on board” with the 1200 club faithful.

He understands the need to maintain the perception that retaining local control of the police force insures that our real estate values remain high and stable. And when it comes to the COP/GM bifurcation issue, our present arrangement has worked for well over 50 years, so why change horses in mid-stream?

A solution to the consolidation question may be dissolving the KFD, streamlining district services and putting them under the control of one district board, our very own KPPCSD. Despite the negative naysayers’ baseless objections, it’s not remotely like robbing Peter to pay Paul.

Remember folks… it is all our money.

Going forward, we need to keep everyone on script for this important election cycle. When everyone does their part our candidates will be successful, our positions will be solidified “and Bob’s your uncle”.
