Folks here at headquarters can’t stop talking about the January 25th KPPCSD board meeting. At the meeting the faithful rolled out the opening salvo of our 2018 campaign to recapture the KPPCSD Board.

Two past board members backed by a chorus of faithful regulars wove a dark blend of news and myth to create a disturbing scenario focused on the current board’s shocking neglect. They did such a stellar job that they have been dubbed the “Skeleton Crew”!

The major themes of our campaign presented by the Skeleton Crew are as follows:

Due to the current board’s neglectful ways, our police department is down to 5 officers and 1 chief for heavens sake! Ignore all those who point out that Kensington has had a force of 5 or 6 officers for the past several years and the sky did not fall.

Once upon a time, Kensington was a quaint hillside enclave, but now we learn that our quiet hillside village is apparently on the radar screen of all joy riders, vandals, burglars and perhaps worse. It’s a major crime wave! After making this point quickly move on since the crime statistics don’t support the so-called crime wave.

Emphasize this current board let go of a perfectly competent COP/GM Kevin Hart. And then they allowed him to be succeeded by another COP/GM Kevin Kyle. Mr. Kyle quit after 10 days because of the disarray in the police department. There may have been too many skeletons in the closet.

Play down the fact Mr. Hart with the help of the past board got pay raises, enhanced health benefits, out of state training trips and a new patrol car while adding to the chaos of a dysfunctional department. Then with short notice he quit to spend more time with his family. No need to go into further details, let’s just blame the current board and move on.

Question why this current board is hell bent on spending our taxpayer’s money for more studies and reports? The faithful don’t need any more studies and reports, they already have the answer to all our problems, more police! Just don’t mention that along with more police come increased taxes and future major financial liabilities.

Follow the lead of the Skeleton Crew and make use of Nextdoor to hurl Trumpian Fox news style missives. The best defense is always a strong offense, and as the Skeleton Crew has shown, an offensive offense is even better.

We anticipate our new campaign to retake the KPPCSD board is going to be a real barnburner. The Skeleton Crew will be leading the charge and reminding all Kensingtonians to “Put Kensington First”.
