For Immediate Release

Update from Headquarters/ How to address and respond to the Internal Investigation Summary Results.

At a recent special meeting three of our KPPCSD board directors voted to approve the release of the written findings of the Traffic Stop and Kramer Investigations. Here at headquarters we have been receiving many requests for instructions about the proper response to the two recently released Internal Investigations.

Listed below are a few tools you can use when engaging concerned citizens in describing the results of the findings and making sure that you leave them with a positive spin and pointed in the right direction.

1.) The LL Template – Focus exclusively on the revelation that Director Cordova‘s vehicle has an expired registration. Keep hammering away on the point that it has been expired for a year and a half. In addition, her driver’s license has lapsed as well. It doesn’t matter that she wasn’t cited for these issues. In an indignant brassy voice/posting claim she has been driving for who-knows-how-long without a valid license and as a result is not fit to be on the KPPCSD board. When used live, works best with Ethel Merman style delivery.

2.) The Hysterical Brush – While Hysteria is a psychiatric condition there is nothing preventing non-mental health professionals from using the word when describing Director Cordova’s behavior during and after the Berkeley Stop. If your use of the word is challenged, then use something like “crazed’, “unstable”, “incoherent”, “agitated’ or “might have a meltdown”. They all will paint the same picture.

3.) Investigation Inconsistencies – Like all human endeavors, there are bound to be contradictions in the recollection of events. For example someone pointed out in one investigation that Mr. Hart claimed Officer Barrow did send him a text during the Berkeley Stop. And yet in another section of the same investigation Mr. Hart denies that was accurate. Steer the discussion away from these extremely trivial issues and segue into either the LL Template or theHysterical Brush.

4.) Flame Out – This clever self-serving move always works well on ND. Start a post and keep ramping up the hyperbole. Throw in some edgy personal borderline slander and wait for the reaction. When the warnings of removal of your posting arrive, you can remove your post or have it removed and bask in your self-righteousness. You then can use the removal to show that your adversaries cannot tolerate views they oppose. Can you spell “martyr”?

5.) El Cerrito Endorsement? – The rumor is true. One of our board majority members is seeking the endorsement from the El Cerrito Democratic Club. Yes the same El Cerrito we don’t want to be annexed by, and yes the same El Cerrito that we contract with for fire services. And yes he is still an advocate for local control of our KPD, so far anyway. For some our very conservative members please remember that old platitude, “politics makes for strange bedfellows”.

With the KPPCSD board elections just around the corner we all need to roll up our sleeves, take control of the message and make sure we maintain the board majority.

It is imperative that we all are “five by five” on this. Please contact your Message Managers if you should have any questions.
