Subject: Meryl’s Meshuga Message

From: The Executive Steering Committee

By now all of Kensington should have received the mail packet from Meryl addressing the KPPCSD Board’s reluctance to heed our voices.

The issue is the “Dorroh Ordinance”. The committee rightfully took some creative latitude with rewriting the process of how the ordinance was adopted 10 years ago.

A lot of folks don’t know the particulars or don’t remember. Thus we wipe from history what transpired and spin a new fable of lost rights and old grievances.

For example we know all the faithful will agree rebranding the initiative ordinance as the “Voting Rights Ordinance” was a masterstroke of marketing genius!  Can I get an amen?

Luckily in 2009 we had John S. appointed to Cindy K.’s vacated seat before we successfully maneuvered to have a board vote instead of a vote by the electorate. It was an end run around the voters done legally, of course. But that’s old news, we have moved on since then.

With Meryl’s new packet a “Dear Neighbor” letter explains how the ordinance safeguards our right as a community to vote on a matter that is critical to us. Someone might ask why our rights as a community to vote on the matter were not protected in 2009. Play down the fact they might have lost their voting rights, but stress it was all done legally by the 2009 Board.

Moving on, the faithful face the possibility of losing their independent locally controlled private police department, all paid for by Kensington taxpayers. The loss will affect our safety, our property values and our taxes. No need to provide any evidence to substantiate the claims.

The underlying message we want to plant is the current Board is not following the law. Forget all the white noise about whether the ordinance is valid or legal. We need to get the faithful all fired up and ready to march with torches and pitchforks.

The letter was sent by many of the same faithful who had a hand in crafting the ordinance and engineering the end run around the voters. So you can be certain it is absolutely unbiased and 100% true. Ninety-nine and a half just won’t do.
