Charming hillside remodel with great bones and loads of potential. Sunny single level building with stunning bay area views. Located in undiscovered serene Kensington. May be available soon, let’s talk.
Building E is blessed with an appx. 2,650 sq.ft. floor plan, and features soaring cathedral ceilings, spacious rooms, modern lighting, separate office/reception area and updated restrooms. A charming front porch area and space for ample open-air parking.
Conveniently located in Upper Kensington, building E is ideally situated with a variety of village shops and services nearby. Nestled in the lush southern edge of Kensington Park within a short walk to quaint Windsor Street. Basketball, tennis courts and picnic areas are just a few steps away. In walking distance to local bus stops. It’s only minutes to downtown SF.
Building E is owned and managed by the Kensington Police Protection Community Service District. The current tenant, the Kensington Community Council, is a non-profit providing community recreational programs. The KPPCSD is considering relocating the KCC and turning building E into a police station due to a lack of viable alternatives.
Converting building E to house the KPD faces major obstacles. The most critical issue is vehicular ingress and egress. The building sits on the Windsor Street cul de sac, a narrow street frequently blocked by local traffic. Creating a new access roadway to Arlington Ave. would be costly and most likely unfeasible due to the extreme slope of the hillside site.
But nonetheless the mere suggestion the KPPCSD is considering “evicting” the KCC from building E has resulted in a firestorm of protests. Beleaguered parents, park originalists, KCC cadre and status-quo folks have been primed for battle. Years of pent up Covid frustration have been channeled into the protest. All for something that most likely will never take place!
Turf wars, old grievances and some local group’s dream of re-establishing political influence may be the real motives behind this ginned up drama, not the community’s perceived fear of losing recreational programs. Can I get a re-set?
