The mailroom here at headquarters has been inundated with messages of concern about those offensive “satirical” posting appearing on ND. Pay no attention to them and be not afraid, Chuck & Dave have a plan. Here are your new talking points.

Core Community Values – Do not get sidetracked by that very small group of so-called “reformers”. Neutralize any “reformer” comments by claiming they are the malcontents that create discontent. Avoid suggesting that they should leave if they are so unhappy here. We are not doing that kind of thing any more, remember we are pushing “core community values” now. If you are not sure what “core community values” are ask your area’s message controller.

Experience – Chuck & Dave have many years of experience in public service between them. Try not to go into too much detail. For example, Chuck’s support for past chiefs of police Harman and Hart, the current “state of the art” garbage contract, the infamous Reno scandal and the board’s exorbitant legal fees all have rather negative outcomes.

While Dave keeps his opinions flexible and opaque, stress that he has worked in the public sector and chaired the ad hoc committee on governance. Best just to keep repeating they have many years of experience and leave it at that.

Safety – Chuck & Dave take credit for our community being ranked number 5 on a list of the safest communities in the state. Again don’t spend a lot of time discussing the details of this ranking. Geography and watchful residents may well be the major reason for the low crime rate. And as it turns out, 3 out of the top 5 communities on the list contract out for police services. But we don’t have to bring this up since maintaining our own local police department is a sacrosanct issue in our hillside hamlet. Keep in mind that facts are inconvenient to the narrative.

Dedication – You just have to say that Chuck has lived here for 23 years and Dave has lived here for 33 years. Let voters draw their own conclusions from that. Although Chuck & Dave’s many years in Kensington mean they do not feel the sting of the endless tax increases as much as newer residents. Be sympathetic but best not to dwell on that point, just push their dedication to the interests of Kensington and what a wonderful place Kensington is.

Fair-minded – Chuck & Dave offer themselves as fair-minded, reasoned and thoughtful candidates who seek broad community input to achieve beneficial change. If confronted by statements the candidates have made which contradict these descriptions, such as Dave’s faux pas blaming “a small minority of individuals that come to every meeting” for creating discontent, pivot away to the charge that candidates have been miss-quoted by a biased “yellow” press. This old saw always seems to work.

Not a Slate – Chuck & Dave are not running as a slate. True, they share many of the same sponsors and many of the same political views and the same positions, but they are not running as a slate. They are just two candidates who share an awful lot, but just not a slate.

Going forward, we still have “plenty of runway left” to insure Chuck & Dave’s message gets out.

But if you believe as I do that it is really time for change, then cast your votes for Eileen Nottoli and Sylvia Hacaj for the KPPCSD board!
