Kensington voters awake! Have the folks saving Kensington’s future got a deal for you!
Many of the same folks who got us in trouble years ago by making the KPD a sinister version of the Keystone Cops are now backing Save Kensington’s Future candidates for the Kensington’s Police Protection Community Service Board and the Fire Protection District Board. (Gasp!)
The goal of the SKF slate of candidates is to grab control of the Public Safety Building remodel project. They wish to slow down the project in order to have yet another try at fitting both the Fire and Police Departments into the remodeled building. They intend to do this by winning a majority of seats on both of the Boards. (Mega gasp!)
One of SKF’s gurus has employed an architect to reverse engineer a plan to fit both departments into the PSB. How does the impossible fantasy become possible? By leaving out the required contamination room and the administrative staff. Since the staff are part-time admin employees, they don’t need a workplace as safe as the first responder’s workplace. Think of the money saved! Anyone have a problem with that?
KFPD incumbent Janice Kosel has said stalling the PSB remodel is not a financially sound idea. She has served many productive terms on the board and has a wealth of institutional knowledge and deep understanding of the issues facing the fire district. Unlike many of the other candidates she has hands-on experience. A vote for Janice would be a wise choice.
KPPCSD Incumbent Mike Logan has worked to continue the rebuilding of the KPD. He has a history of being involved in putting policies in place to improve the delivery of police services and is active in CERT. His style is pragmatic and low-key, with an eye on the financial well-being of the district. A vote for Mike would be an excellent choice as well.
Gail Feldman is running for a seat on the KPPCSD Board. In the past she has served on the Board and has been active in the KPOA for many years. Gail is well versed in how local governments can work effectively and how they can best manage their funds. A vote for Gail would certainly be another wise choice.
If Kensington voters can manage to see beyond the expensive full color brochures, slick image management, big money backers and thin experience of most of the other candidates, their votes could in fact actually save Kensington’s future. Can I get a vote?
