Subject: The KPPCSD Board Election

From: Headquarters

So, you may be asking yourself what happened to our two candidates Lynn and Elaine, running for seats on the KPPCSD Board? The short answer is they lost. [Gasp!]

Kensington voters preferred the two incumbents by a margin of two to one. But how could something like that happen? Our two candidates chose to ignore the advice of the Steering Committee elders. Consequently, the candidates did not receive the organizational and more importantly the financial support of the faithful.

The elder’s advice was based on the belief that one of the candidates carried so much old baggage she could never overcome the fallout. Helping make the park a reality wasn’t going to be enough to get Lynn elected. Elaine’s alarmingly thin public service portfolio was no help either.

Rather than accept the elder’s wisdom the candidates forged ahead with what appeared to be an occasionally stealthy and under financed campaign. In fact, it is rumored one of the candidate’s campaign was self-financed by a loan to herself.

Why wasn’t there a credible, robust effort made by the faithful to win seats on the KPPCSD Board? Because the candidates committed the cardinal sin of disobeying the elder’s orders. And for that they had to pay a very high price. As per the old gospel hymn, trust and obey for there is no other way.

While obedience is supremely important to the faithful, there may be something else at work here. With the issue of “contracting out” for police services stymied, the Kensington Fire Board has become the new arena for the faithful’s crusade. Can I get a witness?

But please remember to have pity on our lone asset on the KPPCSD Board. Now he is left to carry the burden of spreading the faithful’s gospel for several more long years all by himself. Lord, have mercy!
